internet marketing
Internet marketing by itself is a pretty broad and vague term. It could be stated that just having a website is Internet marketing. Most people want to take the idea of Internet marketing beyond just having a website and cite specific methods of internet marketing.
We will try to list these examples so you know what Internet marketing can be.
Organic Search Engine Marketing is what most people think of when the term Internet marketing is used. Organic Search engine marketing is a process where a websites content and layout is given special attention in order to better gain or achieve a higher position for a given phrase, word or search term.
For instance, if a person searched for "Pizza" on a search engine there will be one page listed after another page in the search results. The person searching for "Pizza" might only look at the first page of results or even the results at the top of the first page. Unless your “Pizza” page is one the first page of results or at the top of the page of results your “Pizza” website may never be seen.
So if you had a "Pizza" website, how do make sure your "Pizza" web site comes up on the first page and as high on the top of the search results as you can.
The answer is easy, Hire us!
In order for your "Pizza" website to be a top player when someone searches for "Pizza" a constant effort is required of adding new relevant editorial copy to your website and making sure that the words or phrases that people might use to search are properly placed through out your website. In addition, we must insure that other websites link to your "Pizza" website to show the search engines how highly other websites think of your “Pizza” site.
While we are doing this, we sneak a peak at other "Pizza" websites to see what they are doing so well to rank high in the search engine results. In order for our customers and us to feel good about our work we place a unique phone number on the web site that forwards to the website owners existing phone number. This way we know what phone calls come from the website and we can feel good about people calling as a result of our help.
Compared to “Organic” search engine marketing there is also “Pay Per Click” search engine advertising. “Pay Per Click” is where a website owner pays for every person that clicks on a link or ad to come to their site. The cost of these clicks can range from around 25 cents to a couple dollars to tens of dollars. The exact amount is usually based on a bidding system where a higher bid gets the web site owner a higher position in the search or ad results.
These two types, “Organic” and “Pay Per Click” are what people most usually think of when the term Internet marketing is used. It’s possible that people are also referring to email marketing and or the use of social networks when using the term Internet marketing. We will save that discussion for another page.
